Mocean 5 Years!!!

We have seen a decline in oil&gas activities from 75% to 25% and an increase of renewables from 25% to 75%.

In recent years we have seen a very steep increase of requests from civil developments for offshore projects.

We have experienced working for deep-see mining projects and plastic capture projects, both different to the energy industry in many many ways.

We have seen a transition from fixed to floating crane operations and a shift from installation to decommissioning activities.

We haven’t seen the beginning of what the OCEAN can bring us. After all, THE OCEAN IS OUR PLAYGROUND.

 

We thank all our clients for the trust they have put into Mocean! Without this we would not have been able to survive.

As for the next 5 years we aim to continue to improve our team, our tools, our methods and our spirit. We hope you will join us along the ride.

Mocean CFD Analyses

Since the presence of Filippos we have built our new CFD desk. Using Open-Foam (open source) & Refresco (Marin) both operated by Filippos (PhD in computational Flow Dynamics) we can analysed both internal and external flow problems. As always our focus lies in offshore structures preferably in complex wave fields.

Recent projects include:

  • 3 large CFD analysis on bottom founded structures
  • 2 CFD analysis on vessel current characteristics
  • CFD analysis on in- and out-flow of air through piping and pumps in suction buckets passing wave zone
  • CFD analysis on floating islands
  • Various other CFD challenges
Mocean ISO 9001-2015 certificate

Mocean has been re-certified with the now new ISO 9001 -2015 quality management system. The new 2015 system is more focussed at maintenance of knowledge within the company.

Mocean Awarded Fabrication of Lifting Tool

Mocean has been awarded the design and supply scope for a highly efficient lightweight lifting tool. The easy to use tool enables lifting of monopiles and jackets of up to 1500mt and ensures a minimum of bending stresses in the monopile flange welds.

Mocean Team Expands due to increasing industry requests

The Mocean team is steadily expanding as a result of the continuous increase in requests from both the Renewable as well as conventional offshore industry. Recently we have expanded our team with a seasoned mechanical engineer, Martin, enabling us to be more flexible and swift in designing offshore equipment. Further we have strengthened our team with another Naval Architect, Daan, with excellent programming skills to enable us to develop more software and control system related technology. Also Robert has joined our team as an Sr. Offshore Engineer with an excellent experience and knowledge base related to offshore lifting and decommissioning projects. Our recent addition of a Sr. structural engineer will support our structural analysis to be performed on a range of decommissioning projects and jacket structures.
To ensure we maintain a well oiled and organised engineering company we have welcomed Liesbeth as our new Office and admin college.
And, last but not least, we have welcomed a new graduation student, Pieter, who will be graduating on the MO4 (mocean forecasting) developments.
We are now well equipped to support your projects in the coming years.

Kriegers Flak Installation Analysis

Jan De Nul has installed the first of the two gravity based foundations (GBFs) that will support the offshore substations on the 605MW Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm in the Danish Baltic Sea.

Mocean Offshore supported Scaldis SMC & JanDeNul with the hydrodynamic analysis of the float-off, transport and lowering of both Kriegerflak GBS’s with HLV Rambiz. Due to the detailed and accurate hydrodynamic analysis, the lifting configuration was optimized to guarantee the GBS remained stable during the entire lowering process.
