Hydrodynamic Engineer

Function Description

As a hydrodynamic engineer, you will design and analyze a wide range of systems that operate in a marine environment. You will work on diverse projects, ranging from basic hand calculations to fatigue analysis on mooring systems, spectral motion analysis, bollard pull calculations, design of mooring systems and preparing specs for innovative renewable energy solutions, like seaweed farming, floating solar and wind, etc.
The activities will at times be less well formulated and at times clearly defined. The ability to find solutions, try alternatives efficiently yet thoroughly and find the question behind the question is essential.

Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Analyzes and solve problems independently.
  • Oversees design methodologies and can define ways to solve the problem.
  • Gives instructions to team-members and checks work from team-members.
  • Has an overview of the project progress and deliverables.
  • Knowledge of, affinity with innovations in marine energy market.
  • Present the analyses results to the client in an efficient and orderly fashion.
  • Assess client’s requirements, understand commercial drivers in a project and comment on engineering queries

Your Profile
Education:

  • University Degree (MSc. or higher) in Marine-, Mechanical-, Offshore Engineering, Naval Architecture or comparable

Experience:

  • More than 2 years working experience as a multi-disciplinary offshore engineer
  • Proficiency in writing and editing engineering reports in English
  • The ability to use Python to perform analyses and process large volumes of data
  • In-depth understanding of the physics involved in marine operations
  • Understanding of the practicalities related to offshore operations
  • Very strong analytical ability
  • Proficiency in the use of Orcaflex is preferred
